A New Competitor for Paypal on the Anvil?

Recently rumormongers are working overtime to spread the news that Apple is planning to upgrade iTunes store into a payment system, as a competition to the ever-popular PayPal.

These are just rumors as of now, but they have gained ground with the downfall of PayPal on Monday. PayPal ran into trouble and went out of action for one hour on Monday. It was revived within an hour and full functionality restored in a couple of hours. PayPal’s dysfunction caused a big stir in the web world.

Do Stuff For Money

Do Stuff For Money’ is a new website launched by Paypal, to encourage people to do stuff for money. Sounds incredible, does it not?

«Need your roommate Susie to handle your laundry this week? Sweeten the deal by offering $20 to make sure she does it right,» says PayPal Director of Product Marketing Heinz Waelchi. «Want your boyfriend to give you a foot massage after a long day at work? He may hate your feet, but it might be worth the extra $40.»

While it is indeed possible to use the website for legitimate business purposes, especially for freelance work, the company itself encourages ‘prank offers’ like the one described by the PayPal Director of Product Marketing.
